About mikahla - Speech Pathologist & IBCLC
As a qualified Speech Pathologist with close to 15 years of experience and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant I have gained a lot of knowledge around infant feeding. Supporting the feeding of premature, small, and medically complex infants at a hospital on the Sunshine Coast has been my main role for almost 9 years and has allowed me develop a wealth of knowledge about impacts on feeding and how to best support the parent-infant dyad. I'm so excited to have stepped in to the private practice world here on the sunshine coast, where I can offer my breastfeeding and lactation consultant knowledge to many mummas and bubs!
Infant feeding is a complex developmental task and early positive feeding experiences are so important. Babies learn something at every feed, therefore each feed can shape future feeding outcomes.
Supporting parents/caregivers with creating positive feeding experiences for there little ones is a passion of mine.
Outside of work life, I'm the proud mum of a sweet boy, 2 fur babies and I'm losing count of how many chickensl. We love our lfestyle here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast where we get to spend lots of time down the beach and return to our quaint little fruit farm.
At Nurture Infant Feeding, I aim to provide personalized care to each parent and baby, taking into consideration their individual needs, circumstances and visions.
I'm always learning more and I value the importance of being up-to-date with evidence-based research to allow me to provide current expert advice so families can make informed choices.
